Who am I?
I’m a lawyer turned legal writing coach, but a teacher and mother at my core. I adore nurturing both new and not-so-new legal writers.
Before doing what I do now, I spent 20 years working in Big Law. I wrote for demanding partners, and we did high-stakes, complex, motion-heavy litigation. I wrote briefs, blogs, letters, client alerts, long-form articles, appeals, and everything in between. I also served as co-editor for two firm blogs and taught internal CLE’s on legal writing. In the process, I got trained by some of the best legal writers in the business.
In 2021, I branched out on my own & formed Writing Law Tutors LLC. Since then, my focus has been on improving the legal writing experience of lawyers & law students everywhere.
📕 To that end, I have an Amazon best-seller, “Dear 1L: Notes to Nurture a New Legal Writer,” that you can get here: amazon.com/dp/B0D726J7RQ
🔸 For lawyers and law students: You know me from my Dear 1L & Dear Legal Writer letters. I bring the same enthusiasm to my coaching sessions. I’d love to help you on your journey to becoming a super-powered legal writer.
🔸 For pre-law students: Contact me for help with your law school personal statement and other application essays, and then sign up for my pre-L summer cohort.
⚓️ My anchor is my family. I am a mother of three girls who are in their 20s. I am fortunate to have an amazing husband, Matt, a managing partner at Kleinbard in Philadelphia, who helps support my journey.

About
Thank you so much for visiting my website. I am a legal-writing coach for lawyers and law students.
- If you are an attorney, I can teach you to write more clearly and concisely. We will work together on your existing assignments, and you’ll learn techniques you can implement immediately. The process will save you time, earn you better partner reviews, and train you how to write well on your own.
- For law students, I offer legal-writing coaching and overall law-school support. As with my attorney services, my goal in is to train you to write well on your own. Nothing delights me more than when a student “outgrows” me and no longer needs my support.
I earned my degrees from Harvard University (BA, cum laude, 1991), and Boston College Law School (JD, Order of the Coif, summa cum laude, 1996), where I graded on to Law Review, was elected Executive Editor, and published a student Note.
Before pivoting to my current role, I practiced Labor & Employment Law for twenty years—at Proskauer (NYC), Reed Smith and Morgan Lewis (Philadelphia). I also served as in-house counsel for The Hershey Company.
At Proskauer and Reed Smith, I was the Editor of practice group blogs and client alerts. I also wrote articles for publication and trained associates on how to write such articles. Guiding new and aspiring lawyers has been the most rewarding part of my professional career.
I am fortunate to have the most gracious husband, who serves as Managing Partner at a Philadelphia law firm. His relentless work ethic has enabled me to pursue my passions for writing, teaching, and the law.
We live in a suburb of Philadelphia and have three daughters.
In addition to speaking with lawyers and students, I enjoy writing, tennis, and spending time with family and friends.
