A Bit About Who’s Been Writing to You

I have enjoyed writing to you here on LinkedIn over these past 3+ years now. I thought you might want to know a little bit about who’s been writing to you.

So here goes. ⤵️

I’m fifty-five, female, and married to Matt for twenty-six years (he’s a lawyer, too). We live in a suburb of Philadelphia and have three daughters in their 20s, including one who is a 3L now.

I grew up in a suburb of NYC. My father was a lawyer and my mother, an English teacher. (Yes, I know; go figure.)

The rest is pretty much resume stuff:

▪️ I was a paralegal at a big firm in Boston for two years between college and law school (Harvard, BA 1991; Boston College, JD 1996).

▪️ After law school, I worked as a labor and employment lawyer for twenty years, primarily at two big firms in NYC and Philadelphia (Proskauer & Morgan Lewis) and as in-house counsel at The Hershey Company.

▪️ In 2016, I was laid off in a law firm downsizing, and I then retired from active practice to take several years at home with my family.

▪️ In my free time, I like to play board and card games, dance to fun music, and travel with my family.

Beyond the above, and as I’ve written about before, for a year or two after I stopped lawyering, I tried (but failed) to become a professor at a law school, and I tried a bunch of other things, too (and either failed at them or found them uninspiring.)

💗 It was not until 2021 when I started helping lawyers & law students with legal writing and mentoring law students more generally through LinkedIn, that I truly felt like I’d found what I was meant to do next. 💗

Most importantly, please know that my efforts since 2021 have brought me more fulfillment than I could possibly imagine, and I am keenly aware that none of it would have occurred without the wonderful support from all of you.

🙏🏻🙏🏻 So very sincerely, thank you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

P.S. I do have 2024 updates I could boast about, too, and it is the time of year for such things, but for today, I’m stopping here and dubbing my 2025 as the year of COMMUNITY!!

That’s because it has been the *community* aspect of writing on LinkedIn that has brought me the most joy, and I feel so fortunate to have come to know so many of you in my little corner of the platform here. 👉 Might you drop a note to tell me a little more about YOU?

I adore meeting new people and getting to know people even better by exchanging notes in the comments and DMs, so please do not be shy! 🌈☀️
