Dear 1L: This is My “Office”
These days, it’s easy to get blue.
Another winter Sunday,
In the library, you will be.
School’s become a sole social outlet.
Your desk or bed-top where you dine.
It’s all work, no play.
Grind, grind, grind.
And for many, it’s cold and bleak,
And the days, so very dark.
It’s too easy to get down.
Please know that I’m thinking of you.
I don’t have any magic remedy, but here are some things I’ve been doing for myself this winter to try to feel better (and to stay more cheerful), during the cold, dark days in Pennsylvania:
🔸 Exercising outdoors (which for me, means walking), on as many days as winter permits.
{—I’m really trying to stick to it this year, too. Thank you, Chrstine Uri.}
🔸 Adding brighter lights to my work space.
{—I have special, happy lamps for seasonal affective disorder, but even just making sure you have bright light bulbs can really perk up a room.}
🔸 Surrounding my workspace with cheerful, colorful images. Pictured is my desk.

🗳️ What do you do to make your workspace and winter days more cheerful?
Fondly,
💌 Amanda
