Recommending John Espirian

I write today to thank and recommend someone who helped and inspired me the most during my first year on LinkedIn.

John Espirian is my LinkedIn guru and overall favorite source of advice for marketing and business development (BD). John is humble, kind, and approachable—do follow him, but only connect if you’re willing to do some homework first.

▪️ John posts LinkedIn tips and other guidance for using this platform to help your networking and BD efforts. He has written an exceptional book, “Content DNA,” which I highly recommend. (If you are a 1L reading this, please wait until AFTER exams.)

▫️ Thankfully for me, John offers an excellent audio version of Content DNA. It kept me great company during long drives and walks this past summer.

▪️ If you’re really serious about ramping up your networking and BD initiatives, John also has a vibrant LinkedIn community called Espresso+.

▫️ You can ask all your “dumb” LinkedIn/BD questions, among other things, there, and you can get feedback from John and the other 200something members—many of whom are LinkedIn gurus in their own right.

▫️ John is also seems to know everyone in the LinkedIn space and has a huge repository of recommended experts. He also keeps us all up-to-date on new LinkedIn features and offers monthly reviews of posts.

Finally, John’s “relentlessly helpful LinkedIn nerd” tagline is not just a tagline. He is genuinely one of the most helpful people I have ever come across.
