Dear 1L, You will find that legal writing is full of traps.
Dear 1L, You will find that legal writing is full of traps.
And unfortunately, you’re likely to fall into these traps.
—That’s because you haven’t focused on grammar or punctuation for ages.
—Legal writing also requires you to use new words and terms about which you know zilch.
Add to that all the regular words that have ambiguity problems when used in legal writing, and you end up with:
➡️ An infinite expanse of traps.
The 1L legal writing profs have NO time to teach you about the traps, either. That’s not their job. And that’s especially true for the traps on grammar and punctuation.
It is law school, after all, not middle school.
HOWEVER:
Lucky for you, I drew you a map.
—So you could avoid the traps.
(You might say, I made you “a map of the traps.” 🙂)
👉 In fact, in an appendix to my creation, there’s a handy dandy “global cheat sheet” that lays out all the traps with their chapter number.
Don’t you want this map?
I suggest that you NEED this map!
In fact, I am so confident the book will help you that I’m willing to give you the book for free.
I am THAT sure that you need it during 1L.
