Dear 1L: Remembering Past Accomplishments Can Boost Your Confidence

Dear 1L,

You’ve been through a lot of challenges in life that were hard.
They tested you.
But you came through.

Remember when you tried to ride a bike for the very first time.
You likely fell.
But you got up, dusted yourself off, practiced, and learned.

Remember when you tried to swim for the very first time.
You likely sank?
But you came up, got your bearings, practiced, and learned.

Now, you’re first trying to do law school for the very first time.
You’re likely disoriented.
It’s exhilarating, but scary too.
But you’ll rise up.
You’ll practice.
And you’ll learn how to do law school, too.

Draw upon the past challenges you’ve overcome.

You’re a highly competent individual.

You can do 1L, too.

I’ll be here cheering for you.

📫 2Ls, lawyers, and all in between: Do you remember your first few, nerve-wracking 1L weeks? I’d love to hear from you. Our 1Ls need some encouragement!

Fondly,

💌 Amanda
