Dear 1L, Today I have news to celebrate: #Dear1L has 2,000 followers!

I’ve never publicly celebrated any milestone in my own follower count before. Doing so has never felt quite right to me (which is stupid, I know, and I’m trying to get past).

But with Dear 1L, I’ve been eager to promote. That’s because I see Dear 1L as separate from—and potentially bigger than—me (or any one person alone).

I think of #Dear1L mostly as a rallying point. I’ve never quite understood why law schools make 1L so scary and hard. It’s no short of hazing. A cruel rite of passage.

I know that 1L could be “better.”
More humane.
Less cut-throat.
Happier.

Through Dear 1L, I’m trying to do my part in bringing about the “better.” I am deeply grateful for all of your support.
