Dear 1L: Networking with Lawyers
Dear 1L,
Just listen. Listen to lawyers’ stories. LinkedIn’s a virtual open door to legions of them. Everyone likes to talk about themselves. For you, this means:
⭐️ June is a month of opportunity! ⭐️
July will get busy again with lawyers’ vacations and your OCI. Seize this day!
Many lawyers have been vocal recently about their openness to student networking calls.
☎️ Take them up on this offer! ☎️
You may not have prepared questions, per se.
You can’t know what you don’t know,
And that’s ok!
Just listen.
Hearing one seasoned lawyer’s journey in a 20-minute call can make you see things you’d never thought of before. And, as I can attest, lawyers will likely learn something new from you in a networking call, too.
To facilitate, I have started a 🔹 Dear 1L — Summer Spotlight 🔹 series.
The first post in the series introduced incoming 1L, Gregory Parker. I will not restate his introduction here, but do check out my prior post if you haven’t seen (link in comments) and connect.
I can only make the series work if students partake. This is a golden opportunity to get yourself on the radar of the legal industry at large. You never know where one new connection might lead . . .
If you’d like to be included, please just message me (or simply comment “DM” below, and I’ll message you). I have no particular criteria beyond that you be
🔸 an incoming or current law student, and
🔸 someone who wants to network.
Lastly, this is NOT some scary big deal, and it should take no more than ten minutes of your time. The post I write on you will be brief, and you’ll have 100% editorial control of substance.
The return on your investment could be priceless.
Thank you in advance.
Fondly,
💌 Amanda
