When you’re new to legal writing, it’s natural to think:

—Courts’ words sound better than your words
—Courts’ full sentences should be quoted at length
—Courts’ reasoning will be more persuasive than your own

Instead, you should know:

—Your words sound just fine
—Your full sentences are better than long court quotes
—Your own reasoning will be FAR MORE compelling

👉 When you write the Discussion part of your memo, focus on the facts & outcomes, and put your analysis in your own words. Your reader wants to hear from you!
