Thank you so much, Brandon Farrow.
Thank you so much, Brandon.
I’m sending all my 1Ls so much positive energy during this, THE hardest month of law school. 💌

“Don’t get defeated”
This Belle (expectation vs reality) cake photo perfectly captures how I feel about the expectation vs reality of my dreaded 1L Open Memo right now. I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time on something without feeling like I’m making progress. Trying to fit everything into 8 pages also reminds me of the circus clown cars—where twenty clowns somehow squeeze into one tiny car.
Still, this book sits on my nightstand, and I usually end my day with a few pages. I’ve read it at least twice, yet I keep discovering new insights as the semester goes on.
I was especially grateful for one particular page yesterday—the timing couldn’t have been better.
I’m not going to get defeated. I’m going to leave law school as a strong legal writer (and an expert on 18 U.S.C. § 1956(a)(1)(B)(I) by the time this memo is done).
Another week down… only 132 more weeks of law school to go!
