Dear 1L, You have to write a big memo this fall. Make sure to write it in your own words.

When you’re new to legal writing, it’s natural to think:

—Courts’ words sound better than yours.
—Courts’ sentences should be quoted in full.
—Courts’ reasoning is more persuasive than your own.

Instead, you should know:

—Your words sound just fine.
—Your own sentences are much better.
—Your own reasoning is FAR MORE compelling.

👉 When you write the discussion part of your memo, put your analysis in YOUR OWN WORDS.

Your reader wants to hear from YOU!
