Law Students and LinkedIn

Sadly, I have heard that some law schools actively discourage students—especially 1Ls—from spending any time on LinkedIn.

Perhaps the schools worry that students will become distracted from their studies or get discouraged if they see other students post about landing jobs or winning awards.

 🔴 Law students:

I get those valid concerns, but I hope they will not discourage YOU from missing out on LinkedIn.

It has become THE place for law students in recent years.

Perhaps the effective overhaul of the traditional OCI process that has law firms recruiting 1Ls for 2L summer jobs even earlier near the start of 1L will have one positive side effect:

👉 It will encourage ALL law students to get on LinkedIn earlier!

In the post I am forwarding, a lawyer whom I’ve never even heard of before has encapsulated the inviting environment I myself feel on LinkedIn, and it is one that I seek to foster for you.

I am so honored to be on this list with two people I have long admired and been fortunate to have come to know, Laura Frederick and Alex Su , and I will now go check out the other names mentioned.

I suggest that you do so, too!

Fondly,

💌 Amanda
